Between craftsmanship and underground culture

In 2020 it certainly cannot be said that knitwear is one of the main cult garments among young people, let alone what young people meet again.
Choosing to make knitwear a symbol of Italian style nowadays seems to be a great contradiction. There is however a brand that has tried to change the rules, a cool and completely Made In Italy knitwear: here you are VITELLI .
The young brand, now in its sixth collection, is inspired by different moments of the Italian youth subculture of Cosmic : a peaceful and anti-ideological movement born at the end of the lead years (1980-1984).
Times when young people shouted “music is culture” on the dance floor of the Cosmic on Lake Garda or the Melodj Mecca in Rimini, the first to offer non-commercial music; from electronics to punk, from dark music to psychedelic.
These clubs became the reference point of the “Cosmic Youth”: wide and crumpled sweater, well-kept beard, tight pants and sunglasses: what we would now call hipster .
What the brand is based on is precisely that hippy aesthetic of the oversized wool sweaters, must-haves of the 80s.

Total made in Italy and based in Milan, Vitelli produces its knitwear garments in the ancient spinning workshops in Vicenza , the birthplace of Italian knitwear and the cultural center of these young people ” stoned “.
To celebrate them, the Vitelli brand has created six different collections that ironically tell the youth culture of the eighties.
Each collection aims to reinterpret the style , the thought and mood of those years, promoting what can today be considered “cosmic” within the youth culture, the visual and performing arts.
The autumn winter 2018 campaign is titled “ trip in Tyrol “, tells the images of young people lost in the Tyrolean mountains: music, smoke, nature and transhumance. Things that those who grew up in those “Millennial” years would love to go back to doing.
Since 2019 Vitelli is committed to sustainability with the DOOMBOH : using only yarn recovered from the scraps of Vicenza knitwear, through a special process, a fabric of threads is created with which to rigorously make non-binary total looks and without any waste.

Vitelli with its collections and advertising campaigns highlights an Italy that is not only pizza-mafia-mandolin, but promoter of the European clubbing scene, the Italy of youth revolutions.
It takes us on a cosmic journey in which fashion doesn’t necessarily have to be futuristic, hybrid, hyper-technological, as we expect, but the future can be born and come to life from a not so distant past.
Among the various collaborations, the Vitelli brand also boasts the one with the emerging Fantabody: the brand that celebrates the body of women
