Etro's virtual fashion show

Is it a fashion show or a video game?

Etro presents its new collection during the first edition of “Metaverse fashion week”, an event that happens in the virtual world of Metaverse. This is not an ordinary fashion show because the outfits are worn by genderless avatars and they can be bought in the form of NFT or in the “physical form” directly from Etro’s website.

The show wasn’t accessible live streaming on social media, but it was only available on the website of Decentraland and it was set in an exclusive location of the Metaverse.

The collection is built around the pattern of the “Liquid Paisley”, which is a new version of Etro’s iconic print. The collection is characterized by the use of this all-over print and it is realized in soft colors such as pink, yellow, green and orange. The fabrics used are very lightweight and have a “fluid feeling”.

The following pictures will present you how an outfit from the virtual show is worn by a “real” model for the e-commerce.

Presenting a collection in this way permits the expression of creativity with no limits, however Etro decides to focus on simple shapes and chooses not to use the beautiful embroideries that characterized its previous collections.

This new type of fashion show might be revolutionary and might overcome most of the issues of a traditional runway but lacks the emotions, the adrenaline and the glamour of the moments of the backstage. Plus, as Veronica Etro says, it’s not possible to change the outfits in the last moments before the beginning of the show!
