Here we are back to our weekly appointment WAIT TONIGHT with the coolest places in Milan!
More than a “night” bar, what we present today is a place to attend during the day: the Bar Luce by Fondazione Prada!
A place suitable for true fans of cinema and art, who love to discover new places.
The Bar Luce is definitely a place of great charm, immersed in the artistic context of the Fondazione Prada.
It was designed by world-renowned film director Wes Anderson, such as the Grand Budapest Hotel and the Tenembaum.
And it is the very imprint of an artist like Wes Anderson that makes the Bar Luce a magical place.
You will feel immersed in an old vintage film, written and directed by the director of Moonrise Kingdom…
Everything from the colors to the uniforms of the waiters, is treated in detail.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of what was breathed in the Milanese cafés of the ’60s, and it is from there that the inspiration was born.
As for the furniture: the seats, the formica furniture, the floor, the veneered wooden panels that cover the walls and the chromatic range recall the aesthetics of Italy in those years, which Wes Anderson was inspired by in the 2013 short film Castello Cavalcanti.
Two further references to the Italian Neorealism of the time are the paintings: Miracle in Milan (1951) by Vittorio De Sica and Rocco and his brothers (1960) by Luchino Visconti.
Another detail, in my opinion delicious, are the pinball machines!
The menu is vintage too!
The latter, in fact, is inspired by the oldest sandwich shops in Milan (and even the best), such as De Santis.
The sandwiches are divided into cold cuts, cooked, raw, salami, bresaola, roast-beef, mortadella, speck, culatello, to which are added porchetta, foie-gras, vegetarian sandwiches and fish.
The breakfasts, moreover, are delicious and also beautiful to watch and photograph!
