“Metamorphosis is the name which I gave to my collection and installation understood as transformation of the cloth.” So begins Vittorio Branchizio in explaining his brand men’s collection for next summer. The installation referred to by the designer was created in collaboration with designer Uros Mihic and Simone Fantoni expressing the overlaps and lightness that characterize the collection, presented in Milan during fashion week.
If his counterparts have told both, during Pitti and Milan’s fashion show, travellers stories and exotic locations, Branchizio has instead concentrate on his product, on matter, molding it at will, changing it. “I have studied the effects obtainable on the fibers making the collection with two different techniques in order to create knitted fabrics subsequently convertible,” says the designers native to Brescia.
And so here’s its knitwear that becomes emblematic of a technical and creative experimental process where cotton, silk and linen interface with the technical fabric and colors rather neutral, as well as black and white inevitable, which come to life through the pictorial reworking corrosion and then placed in the colored part. Always in terms of aesthetics, Vittorio Branchizio availed itself again by the artist Sergio Perrero regarding designs on garments.
To Branchizio is a very personal approach to fashion but always art-filled. Just in an interview with Wait! a year ago the designer explained how his style was a path that is constantly changing but could not omit three aspects: inspiration, creativity and know-how. “They are probably on a par-about. I am constantly inspired by the world of the arts and I draw a lot from my collaboration with various artists all the time. In knitwear, also the technical component is very important if you want a truly innovative results”.
The spring-summer 2017 collection is the culmination of this approach and departure, if he continues like this, to establish itself as a knitwear man’s brand of experimental cutting edge.
