The Spring Summer 2020 by Off-white distinguished itself last year during the fashion shows in Paris for women’s week, and now it’s finally online on the official website of the brand!
A collection with a central theme of space and hence the name “Meteor Shower”: a meteor shower for a confident woman, a lover of the minimal.
So recurrent are the craters on garments and accessories, which reflect the circular holes of Emmental cheese, inspired by the helmets of fans of the Wisconsin team, the city where Virgil Abloh completed his university studies.
The minimalism of the 90s had amazed the critics during the Paris Fashion Week because certainly less eccentric than the collections previously presented by the designer, who openly stated that his intention was to break away for a moment from that extravagant line, which has always characterized his creations, to bring the brand back to essential shapes and colors, while maintaining a radical Street style.
The outerwear is simple, versatile and suitable for any occasion: Nylon bomber jackets, green “military” jackets and degrade denim, red or light blue. Finally, the Futura Tomboy jacket, a blazer with an androgenic look with multicolor graphic prints.
Truly indispensable are the t-shirts with the “Arrows” and graphic prints, combined with black leather or nylon high waisted trousers.
The tops with circular holes on the chest and jeans, which have craters scattered along the legs are iconic.
Tye dye prints proposed in various variations, follow the trends of the moment.
Among the accessories, the Meteor bag, which while not being practical, is unique.
The entire collection appears imbued with a common sense of feminine empowerment: Abloh wanted to bring on the catwalk a strong woman.
The Hadid sisters paraded with proud faces together with older models such as Audrey Marnay and Georgina Grenville, demonstrating that beauty and self-esteem are concepts without age or physical form.
Because Abloh, like many other designers, wants to challenge conventions and tear down the walls that have locked the female universe in a bubble, in which you are beautiful only if you are twenty years old and streetwear is a “male thing”.
