Melissa Eakin and the naughty aesthetic

Melissa Eakin is a multidisciplinary artist: painter, illustrator, fashion designer and hairstylist; a creative force and rich of humor.

Her graduation collection has debut at the London Fashion Week in february last year, with the autumn winter 2019-20, sponsored by the British Fashion Council. The pieces of the collection, in pure Eighties style, are the result of a fascinating mix of multicultural influences that range between Guatemala and America, her country of origin.

Currently based in London, she dedicated her graduation collection, achieved at the University of Westminster, to her grandfather Teto, an eccentric Guatemalan cowboy.
The distorted proportions and the voluminous design of her 6 looks, came and mixed together with the cowboy style, driven by the sculptural footwear carved in the chalk. The Western style collection embodies red and blue snake leather’s pattern, huge hats and sombrero, and layered cow prints.

It doesn’t matter if considered “naughty“, as long as Melissa Eakin has fun in creating color palettes, shades and layering with her personal taste.

A niche artist that teaches us to love what we do, even if considered “ugly” to the traditionalistic’s eyes. Her creations are made-to-order and unique, real pieces of art.
