It doesn’t matter how much you live, but how you live. It is when you can fully live your dream that you can feel fully satisfied and satisfied. This is the story of Kansai Yamamoto, suffering from leukemia for some time, who passed away at the age of 76 after a career of great successes and collaborations with the greats of music: from David Bowie to John Lennon and Stevie Wonder.

July 27, 2020 was the day when we had to say goodbye to one of the most loved talents in the fashion world. The Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto was greeted by his daughter with a message on instagram that communicated his disappearance to the world.
“He left this world in peace, surrounded by loved ones. In my eyes, my father was not only the eclectic and energetic soul that the world knew, but also a caring, kind and affectionate person. It has flooded me with love all my life”.
And there is nothing greater than the daughter’s love. There is no greater satisfaction dear Kansai than the words of a piece of you who during your life loved you and returned all the affection that you unconditionally and without rational reason have given her.
Mirai, Kansai’s daughter has announced that she wants to pursue her father’s passion by working for the Kansai Super Studio brand.

A pioneer, an artist, a couturier who has always anticipated the times in which he lived. He was the first designer to show in London, in 1971, at the age of 27, always inspired by the traditional Japanese arts of the Kabuki theater for his couture clothes. Most will remember him for being the man who created David Bowie’s costumes on his tour (1972-1973).

The partnership with the White Duke is one of the most iconic works of the famous designer, in which he was inspired by a Japanese legend that described the relationship between a divinity and a rabbit for the creation of the character Ziggy Stardust, David’s alter-ego Bowie.
In 2018 the designer collaborates with Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of Louis Vuitton, creating together with the Cruise Collection presented at the Miho Museum, a place of worship for all oriental art that is located in Kyoto in Japan. On that occasion Stardust created traditional Japanese-style prints intended to be imprinted on the house’s clothes and accessories.

Kansai has always created unique pieces thanks to his revolutionary mind. My words will not do justice to this great artist. But to make it indelible in time and space are certainly the words of the daughter Mirai, far more important than mine.
