From the creative power of Los Angeles, some of the best musical, film and fashion products in the world are born. We do not think it is a coincidence that among these the designer-photographer-director (and so on and so forth, because he is truly a creative genius) American Eli Russell Linnetz.
A graduate in screenwriting from the University of Southern California, he developed a remarkable ability to sew when, for economic reasons, he began to deal with the costumes of the university opera.
Until a few years ago we knew him for being one of the most influential photographers in the contemporary music scene: when we look at Famous, by Kanye West, it’s interesting to know that much of the visual output is due to the influence that Linnetz (at the time only 20 years old !) practiced on Kanye.

Linnetz, photographer–designer, is currently contributing to change the American pop aesthetic, with a work that has continued from 2015 to the present day, and at the moment he is increasingly establishing himself as a fashion designer thanks to his own brand ERL (acronym of his first name).
When Linnetz describes his love for photography, he describes it like this:
“I am always only interested in people. I used photography as a way of social climbing, to meet people. Maybe there is an evil evil in my work that exists in every celebrity. So I think we were drawn together through this, and therefore the work is secondary.”
His photographic “style” is casual, playful and “random“, even though he portrays some of the most famous characters on the planet. These fancy traits are reflected in the aesthetics of his clothing line, which has been driving the web crazy for a few months now.
The ERL brand was born from the collaboration of Linnetz with the famous e-commerce Dover Street Market LA, following a request from the market for some of the designer’s drops. Then the collaboration led Linnetz to a friendship with Adrian Joffe, CEO and creative director of Dover, and from here arose the possibility to (finally) develop his vision through his own brand.
Brand that embodies in clothes all that youthful and somewhat rebellious scenario of Venice Beach, to which each of us would like to belong: bright colors, pop motifs combined with the aesthetics of surfers, skaters and jaunty boys who populate the coast. The collection ranges from sweaters, sweatpants, shorts, hoodies and t-shirts.
His work as a designer is summarized in these words:
“I feel that everything I do has a kind of manic representation of what is happening in the world, based only on the people I work with, figureheads of our time”
