Alessandro Lastella, born in 1988, has always been a lover of the arts, he graduated in 2013 with distinction in Fashion Design at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan. By now the young designer has given free rein to creativity feeling free to express his ideas without obstacles, bringing recently to found his namesake brand.
When and why did you decide to build your brand?
The brand was born in 2014, starting with a small capsule for summer presented in St. Petersburg and Shanghai. Given the initial positive finding occurred, I saw the opportunity and the desire to pursue a career as independent and groped to communicate my world and thought, through my clothes.
Is it hard to emerge as a designer?
I would say yes: you have to be very careful and every day there are important decisions to be taken in the short and long run that determines the success of a project or not. Indeed, it is hard not to draw and create a good product. If you are talented in the end it does it very well. But it’s the whole package of problems that is around the collection, sales, communication and management where emerge the real difficulties. This for me of course.
What are your strengths?
Surely the excellent organization that force me and that is critical to be able to do all that is needed. And then the desire to change constantly, which allows me in this way to create something new and renew.
There are differences in creating a collection for women than men?
Surely, though with my line I try to eliminate as much as possible the differences between menswear and womenswear. I always created and unisex collections. The outfit that I create for male are also very wearable for woman. Often, however, what is very new in female collection is not as aggressive and strong on those of men’s, so there must be a careful study behind.
At what point is the fashion today? What aspects of it that you value most?
The mainstreaming of gender and style is definitely is what I appreciate most, I love the look of the resulting eclectic mix more styles, which reflect some highly globalized society of today.
Future projects?
For now, concentrate on the line and make it grow, at the moment is the most important project and that can be great, because this involves a whole series of commitments and not just a single project.
