The basketball shoe inspired by the player Kevin Durant, launched in April 2021, was entrusted by Nike to the american artist Ron English for a collaboration under the banner of pop surrealism.
The Nike KD14 designed to improve the comfort and playing performance of basketball players, will be released in its “Ron English” version on September 2, 2021 by Nike Japan.
But let’s get deeper into this colorful sneaker. Characterized by the electric blue of the heel, the pastel green of the sole and the coral pink of the bands, this shoe will certainly not go unnoticed.
The upper has a woven pattern that incorporates the main colors of the shoe (blue, green, pink) to which additional ones are added such as bright yellow, for example. The combination of such bright and different shades is reminiscent of an optical illusion or a three-dimensional effect.
The bands (or straps) that cover the blue laces of the shoe look like two wings, a symbol that is probably linked to the world of basketball and the athletic impulses that the players make during matches. The wings are a little reminiscent of the colorful sneakers made for Adidas by Jeremy Scott.
The pop sneaker that evokes the world of gaming, in particular video games or Japanese cartoons, can be purchased for around 20,000 yen or 190 US dollars from the 2 of September!
