The 93rd edition of Pitti Uomo is enriched with innovations, especially when it concerns those presented by Panizza, a historic brand of hats and excellence of Made in Italy since 1879, year of its foundation by Giovanni Panizza and Natale Gamba.
The Panizza Fall/Winter 2018 collection is expressed in terms of substantial innovations that concern not only the materials, but also the shapes and structures.
Panizza rearranges the set-up of its collections featuring a new unisex line of iconic hats made in Merino wool felt, aimed at a younger public and with a specific price range for this market segment.
The capsule’s theme is Italian genius and inspiration, which has always been the creative manifesto of Panizza’s artisan skills, and it features particularly avant-garde models for their ideological and manufacturing content, a eulogy to the master hatmakers’ ability to forge felt: hand prints impressed on the hat, like “marks of style” of the master artisan, evoke a genuine and handcrafted effect, a signature that brings value and symbols; furthermore the spots or the vertical incisions are other signs left by master hatmakers, represent an invitation to break free from the traditional idea of industrial perfection, by soiling or cutting the hat, manifesting its presence.
Additionally, a sign of the incredible versatility of the manufacturing process are the hats shaped after ones worn by historical explorers and the geniuses of past times, like Marco Polo and Leonardo Da Vinci: as a result of that, the flat or dome shaped hats were born, with buttons and golden decorations.
In regards to the material, an exclusive type of Merino wool with a fur length of 0.18 micron (instead of 0.22 micron) offers a unique smoothness to the hats.
