The espadrillas: a footwear that represents the perfect bond between cotton canvas and rope sole.

Originally from Basque Country, such a poor accessory, initially used by fishermen, became an icon thanks to Luis Castañer and his cousin, Tomas Serra that, in 1927, opened their own espadrillas production in Girona. The success was sudden, but reached its peak between the Fifties and Sixties, when their espadrillas were worn by prominent characters, as Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, Jeckie Kennedy and Salvador Dalì.
Another important date for Castañer is the 1972, when Lorenzo Castañer met Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, creating the first model with a wedge, by transforming this poor shoe in into a cult item.
The espadrillas are now a timeless accessory: fabrics or colored leather, with or without laces, platform or not, also for the 2020, fashion offers many variations of espadrillas.
For this reason, we at Wait Fashion, have selected for you more than 20 models to keep an eye on, both for men and women. Because, as you know, the iconic natural-woven sole has always been the emblem of summer.
