2 seasons since Iucu, artist, stylist, designer creates for Blomor a special capsule collection that bears his name.
This time around the brand has asked Iucu to push on the accelerator. And try to invent the future of streetwear, giving free rein to the imagination, his desire for color and without any restraint or constraint.
I’m going to see the collection at Pitti and almost faint. Yes, because the result is totally out of the box, crazy, free, without the need to follow NO fashion , no trend, no satisfaction, no certainty to sell or not to sell, make a flop or a success.
It ‘s a total explosion of creative freedom, and this freedom comes when the results are good.
The collection is inspired by a world of plastic and then the pop art style TV bands, dolls, reminiscent of Warhol, plastic toys … all melted and mixed with an interesting stylistic work: inserts of technical material, nylon, zip.
The capsule, renamed Superfluo (playing with the name and the superlative of fluo) is accompanied by a ‘manifesto’ and his poetic precise. Against the easy approval, against the fast fashion, against globalization. With no apparent boundaries we’d all be hostages of infinite spaces.
After those of Marcelo Burlon (which obviously is completely different) this is for me the most innovative Italian street collection for the last 12 months.
To hell with the black that is so fashionable, Turkish trousers, writtings with several hastags.
The collection will be sold to high level shops, in a totally independent from other collections of the brand, and they tell me that Japanese have already made major store insert, only after you seing it.
It reminds me a bit ‘crazy talented graphic Australians PAM (Perks and Mini) and I like it even more. What is lacking but I suppose that will come is the ability, typical of mythologizing abroad and enhance certain brands to make them legendary. Here the conditions are all there.
