After the Giorgio Armani speech about the future of fashion, Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, takes a position on a completely rethought fashion system.

Following the Coronavirus emergency, the creative director explains his revolution through a series of Instagram posts published between the night of 23rd and 24th May on the Gucci account. With these notes, wrote during the lockdown period, Alessandro Michele reflects on the tyranny of the speed of the fashion world which brings to put apart the creativity, thus expressing his need to slow down.
With the “Notes from silence“, he announces a change in the future of the maison, which will only show twice a year. There will no longer be the mid seasons and not even the seasons, defining the cruise, pre-fall, spring-summer, fall-winter collections “labels of an impersonal discourse“.
«We will meet just twice a year, to share the chapters of a new story. Irregular, joyful and absolutely free chapters, which will be written blending rules and genres, feeding on new spaces, linguistic codes and communication platforms.»
Alessandro Michele wants to transform his work in symphonies, rhapsodies, madrigals, nocturnes, overtures, concerts and minuets, restoring the lost depth and art to fashion. Thinking back about the timing of the fashion sector, with a wise choice suitable for this difficult period.
