In an tennis inspired setting, Louise Trotter presented her second Lacoste collection for the spring/summer 2020.
Staying true to the brand’s roots, the creative director has redesigned the brand’s aesthetic, by bringing the heritage of the green crocodile directly to millennials. The brand’s nostalgic vision, has been revisited in a contemporary way, fishing out polo shirts and silhouettes from the 80’s, and transforming them in a genderless apparel.
The definition which Louise Trotter gives to the collection’s aesthetic is “aristocratic yet quite street“. In fact, the relaxed fit, but not excessively wide, brought the brand to an another level, letting it go back up to date.
Lacoste presents the season’s trends in pastel colors alternate with color blocking, by reworking the brand’s essentials both for the menswear and womenswear apparel. The collection plays with new proportions, getting a younger and vibrant aesthetic which still remains true to its DNA.
A special mention goes to the sneakers redesigned by Helen Kirkum, the “collagist of sneakers”. For the first time, the designer revisits three original Lacoste models, resuming them from the archives and by transforming them in new unisex hybrids: the model René, which pays homage to the first tennis shoes designed by René Lacoste, the model G80, purely in 80’s style, and the futuristic model V-Ultra.
