Everyone is entitled to a second chance: even sweatpants.
Those kind of cotton trousers with elasticated waistband, more like pyjamas than a piece of clothing; they get crumpled up in our wardrobe, yet when we have a tummy ache, fever or simply don’t feel like dressing; they are always there, ready to be worn.
At the beginning, it has been despise by haute couture, they owe their birth to Emilie Camuset, founder of Le Coq Sportif; an ergonomic garment, designed as a comfortable alternative to train at the competitive level.
But it’s thanks to the advent of hip pop culture that sweatpants are in vogue, crossing the border of sportswear to be worn as easily as a pair of jeans.
Passing through Jane Fonda’s workouts, until you get to be a real subculture uniform that weaves fashion, dance, music and black culture.
At the helm of their ascent we find Adidas with his iconic white stripes fantasy, followed by Nike and all the other sportswear brands.

Sweatpants, however, are not destined to remain in streetwear; there are other programs for them. Over time, luxury alternatives have been proposed by brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Versace, perfect for those who love to look cool even in overalls.
But the surprises don’t end there: Champions, encelleny sports brand, has also started collaborations with Supreme and recently with Chiara Ferragni, so that two worlds so far apart can finally interact and mix.
The result of this combo has obviously been much appreciated, so it’s time to exhume sweatpants from the wardrobe, iron them and why not, combine them with a pair of Louboutins instead of the usual sneakers; the glamour effect is guaranteed; Anna Wintour’s troth that after years of resistance has given in to the undeniable comfort of sweatpants; always with style!
