The Italian label Stone Island is back, for the twenty-second edition, with its innovative and experimental Shadow Project, definable as a fundamental investigation on the nature and potential of modern men’s clothing.
The 2019 Spring/Summer collection of the line – or 7019 collection – sees the brand continue to explore new fabrications and fabrics, as well as referring to previous concepts. Shadow Project arrives therefore introducing new methods of interaction between man and garment, designed to adapt and harmonize with personal and environmental circumstances, but unifying the previous innovations and new concepts through the unparalleled depth of Stone Island’s textile research.
The continuous search for new systems that modify the shape of the garments for different functionalities has led to the further development of the Articulation Tunnels and Articulation Zippers. These functional components are also implemented in new spiral and curved versions, allowing the wearer to intuitively control the volume and tension of their garment.
Other features include a removable Encase Panel, which provides the boss with additional storage and coverage space and the debut of the concealed Split Hood.
A key feature of the collection are the all-over graphic patterns, which are added to three specially developed fabrics. The DIN CHINÉ is made of rip-stop fabric and presents a new mimetic shadow project motif; IMPRINT NYLON is influenced by the elegant contrast between surface and tension, while LENTICULAR JACQUARD uses the perception to create a visually changing fabric.
The return of HOLLOW CORE and NASLAN LIGHT complete the collection with their durability qualities versatility of use.
In addition to the fabrics and materials used in clothing, the Spring/Summer 2019 collection also presents a range of constructed shoes: made of soft perforated suede leather and fine leather, finished with the signature Shadow Project, they have a minimal look but very incisive.
