“Design can put a dream on paper, so to speak, but it’s development and manufacturing that turn the dreams into reality.” – Aaron Cooper
These are the words with which Aaron Cooper, designer for Nike’s Innovation sector, describes the creation of a sneakers that from a dream becomes reality.
But what inspires that act of genius that gives birth to the “dream”?
For the Nike Zoom Ultraflight, the answer of the creators who collaborated in the creation of this shoe, Aaron Cooper and Eric Avar, is one: the automotive world. In fact, the model is inspired by the Bugatti Chiron, with its colors and aerodynamic shapes.
After experimenting for a long time with new models, Nike pursues in its search for an aesthetic capable of suggesting the sensations of speed and movement and in this, referring to the appearance of the most modern sports cars has been a winning step for the design of the sneaker.
Continuing to exploit the lines of the Zoom basketball model, the Nike Zoom Ultraflight take the shoe to another level, in terms of performance and aesthetics.
The white leather upper matches with a translucent gel heel, which from the co–creators‘ story is inspired not only by the Bugatti deck lay, but also by one of the snow helmets seen in a sports shop in New York:
“We were blown away by this translucent snow helmet where you could see the foam structure underneath” – Aaron Cooper and Eric Avar
With colors ranging from blue to orange to green and red, the shoe is what we can define as a perfect combination of pure experimentation and manufacturing innovation.
