In an industrial space furrowed by music and quiet, Raf Simons presents his new Fall Winter 2021 2022 collection with a digital show.
In the heart of Belgium, precisely in Barenzaal (Genk) the designer Raf Simons intrinsically tells us his hybrid idea of contemporaneity. The collection does not refer to trends, it has no theme other than to fragmentarily translate the designer’s DNA, which represents him and also translates his mood. The hypnotic and evocative clothes do not cover bodies by wrapping them, but expand and float on the silhouettes, they embracing them as if they wanted to protect them from the foreign world. The shapes adopted are wide trapezoid or with puffed shoulders.
Then, the line focuses on the genderless dress concept, on which the designer has been experimenting for many time between lines, colors and materials. Colors palette looking at full and bright shadows with the red, pink, chocolate, turquoise, lime, yellow and petrol colors. Items take up the iconic style of the Raf Simon archive in the 1990s and early 2000s, such as polo shirts, workwear clothing, oversize blazers and quilted jackets.
Interesting are the pop gloves, the return to mustard runner boots with pastel rubber heels and the choice of jewels, that illustrate an abstract rib cage with heart and skeletal weird hands. A thoughtful choice also falls in the embroideries of the shirts, which carry the words ataraxia, equanimity, dichotomy, synchronicity, fidelity and devotion, as symbolic details that merge incite the rediscovery of yourself and a state of calm in the own spirit.
