THE ITALIAN-JAPANESE COMPANY REPLACES THE ICONIC MODEL IN DIFFERENT VERSIONS
The Northwave brand gives new life to the famous Espresso sneaker. The initially Japanese company, acquired by Calzaturificio Piva in 1972, is the undisputed leader in the sportswear sector, standing out for quality, technology and performance. It is not a case that is affirmed internationally some years later, in the 80s, with a famous snowboard boot launched all over the world.
But the success achieved so far was not enough for Northwave. In fact in 1991 it decided to create a new sneaker, the Espresso, for snowboard enthusiasts under the motto of «designed by snowboarders for people». The characteristics of this model are mainly two and concern the composition of the shoe itself: the sole typical of snowboard boots and the highest part designed as if it were a classic sports shoe.
THE ESPRESSO SNEAKER
For a few years the Northwave brand lives on income. Also because the world of sneakers was a niche. The fact is that from 2010 onwards the sector is experiencing an exploit. Rebirth that occurs in Japan in 2014. So, what better time to re-read the Espresso sneaker? After several versions, the company achieves the maximum result with the model launched this year, under another motto: «Big Sole, Bigger Soul».
The features and innovations of the sneaker are different, including the possibility of choosing two variants: suede or leather. In addition, the interior lining is made of faux fur, so it can be worn without problems even on the coldest days. And on the snow, already fallen on our Alps. Finally, the available colors are: black, off-while, red and royal blue.
