Marios fall-winter 2019
Everything is forbidden. A peremptory affirmation that of Marios presenting the autumn-winter 2019 collection on the last day of Milan fashion week. Inside the Menotti Theater, in the Porta Venezia area, the duo composed by the Cypriot designer Mayo Loizou and the Polish performer Leszek Chmielewski, stages its idea of fashion, including techno music – a trend of the latest fashion shows – tailoring approaches and some faux pas.

The sound dominated the show. The title of the show is also the claim of one of the top ten European clubs, the HALL, based in Tallinn. And just some of its DJs have created the soundtrack of the fashion show ad hoc. A choice that denotes a certain research and a clear knowledge of the brand compared to underground realities. But to parade is not the vanguard, rather a review of its archive, that of the company, founded in 2002. Some iconic items, such as the cape dress or bat shape, were baste with new aesthetic structures. For example, the second one is made with both iridescent nylon and military twill.

Blue and black dominate the scene, along with burgundy and fluorescent yellow. They are the plastic protagonists of clothes able to tell a story, despite the idea of reinterpretation being too used these days. Like the nude, not exactly guessed. Then we return to the key concept, to forgive anything. Can it be done in fashion? For Marios it seems not and that’s okay. In the end it is an industry that must interpret the tastes and trends of the moment, but that arose from the need to express the creativity of those who make it. With regard to tren, concepts, that of all-over writing, among which Everything is forbidden stands out, is another important element of the presentation.
