The National Chamber of Italian Fashion confirms the 124 appointments from 23 February to 1 March for the Autumn-Winter 2021/2022, including historical designers, registrations of social and new promises of fashion.
Obviously it was not so unpredictable to think, with the historical period we are living, that once again Milan Fashion Week Women’s shows would be held in digital mode. Small exception, however, for presentations, which with a smaller number of journalists and buyers will be divided between digital formats, virtual showrooms and physical appointments.
The President of CNMI Carlo Capasa, referring to the speech on the digitization of fashion house events during the pandemic, said: “they once again testify to an approach of great flexibility, which has pushed all the players in the fashion industry experimenting with new expressive languages and looking for alternative ways to promote and distribute the great creations that make this week unique on the international scene”.

And it is also very clear that, if on the one hand there are Covid restrictions to be respected, on the other hand many designers have been pushed by the moment to experiment with new communication tools. Versace, for example, recently announced his absence by preferring the fashion film for the new collection, while Valentino confirmed his participation for the second time, since the debut on September.
“I am very happy to see also for this Fashion Week the participation of many of our members and the presence of new brands, to underline the importance and value of the Milan Fashion Week, albeit in such a difficult time for our industry” adds Carlo Capasa.
But who will be the new promising designers?
Brunello Cucinelli will show us for the first time with the women’s collection, while the MFW debutants are: Onitsuka Tiger, Fabio Quaranta, Dima Leu, Münn, Budapest Select, Alessandro Vigilante, Giuseppe Buccinnà and CHB.
The shows will open on 23 February at 10:00 with a short film to remember Beppe Modenese, honorary president of CNMI, who passed away last November. There will also be numerous CNMI sustainability events, with “Designer for The Planet” and the collaboration with Confartigianato, curated by Sara Sozzani Maino to promote 5 historic craft activities in Made in Italy. Then, events of social and multicultural relevance, such as “We are made in Italy – The Fab Five Bridge Builders” developed by “Black Lives Matter in Italian Fashion.” A project curated together with the designers Stella Jean, Edward Buchanan and Michelle Francine Ngonmo.

“I’m pleased to see that extremely necessary changes are taking place in my country, without hesitation. By taking these young designers by the hand, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion will become a kind of prototype of a new multicultural Italy. The Italian companies that have collaborated with us have taken the important decision to open the doors of their ateliers, as well as their archives. They are teaching these young talents important techniques, they have taken decisive steps to amplify these voices in the country. Made in Italy is much more than a label, it embodies a legacy that, today, is demonstrated through actions aimed at identifying not only stylistic excellence, but also human excellence”, said Stella Jean .
The event aims to promote the talent of five foreign-born designers in Italy: Joy ljeoma Meribe of Moda Design, Karim Daoudi of Karim Daoudi, Claudia Gisèle Ntsama with Gisfab, Fabiola Manirakiza with Frida-Kiza and finally, Pape Mocodou Fall for Mokodu.
The inauguration will be schedule on February 24th at 9:00 pm with digital party “CNMI MEETS CLUB DOMANI”, on @cameramoda IG profile
