It takes courage to reinterpret the concept of black and white, especially in fashion. Firstly because the topic – the aesthetic concept – has already been read in the past by the masters of couture, until today, with the Alta Moda collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, designed for the current summer season and inspired to surrealist art. In short, it is difficult to risk a new vision of that dichotomy, of yin and yang. Max.Tan puts itself to the test in this sense, with the woman’s collection for next winter.

The stylistic objective of the Singapore brand, present since 2010 on the market, is to study the limits between the two colors, indicated as the relationship between good and bad. In fact, although the proposals are very clear, with a decidedly black part and the other in total white, in the middle of the chromatic-conceptual path five models are realized, able to express the potentialities in terms of the couple’s shades, invoking a descending climax – or ascendin, depending on the point of view – towards the candid shades generated by the darker ones.

The proposed silhouette plays, as usual, on volumes and lengths, daring with bodices used as a sign, indicating precisely those bridge shades between one way and another. Here then the dualism between right and wrong insinuate: the error for Max.Tan is no longer a defect, or rather identifies itself as such when it goes beyond the limits, although it is known that they are related in a context of clothing brands which they tend to experiment, to dare with fabrics and shapes.

Inspired by ancient Egypt, the goddess Anubis with its jackal head, the proposal for the winter wardrobe has as its protagonist the caftan, an unusual choice for a collection designed for cold temperatures. On the other hand, the fashion house has its headquarters and life in an area of the world, south of Malaysia, free from discomfort, given that it lives an eternal summer. The femininity that emerges, then, is a kind of cat-woman at the forefront, proud, angelic and damned at the same time.

Compared to the past few seasons, the brand has taken a step forward, especially in terms of style, setting its aesthetic and emphasizing the experimental side, increasingly new today, especially on the catwalk dedicated to ready-to-wear.
