For the Max Mara Resort 2019 fashion show, the brand chose an emblematic location: the Maramotti Collection in Reggio Emilia, a private collection of contemporary art, open to the public since 2007 and located in the building that was the first Max Mara site in the Sixties .
Max Mara Resort 2019 looks to the Maramotti Collection, in particular to the first acquisitions of works by the group of avant-garde artists who worked in Milan, Rome and Turin, from Burri, Fontana, Manzoni, Novelli, and Twombly. Their bold deeds, the authenticity of the materials, the latent energy, poetry and powerful symbols inspire a vision of modernity that is tactile, unstructured and raw.
On the catwalk, the dresses are declined in a colors palette that highlights the materials in the colors of nature. Écru, white zinc, cement gray, jute, night blue, charcoal black.
The collection is characterized by patchwork and ruffled pleats such as ‘Achrome’ by Manzoni, sculptural ruffles like ‘Ferro’ by Burri, and Anselmo’s important work Arte Povera ‘Torsion’ inspires the sinuous curves, knots and braids.
As usual, Max Mara places the outerwear on a pedestal. Here is the new double face in pure camel, volumes inspired by the hood and reversible coats: cashmere on one side and nylon on the other.
