A tribute in an accessory. This is how the choice of the Maison Alaïa to make the first sunglasses collection can be summarized. The shapes, colors and textures of the models presented are in fact the mirror of the aesthetics created by the couturier Azzedine Alaïa since the late seventies, when he founded his idea of fashion in his apartment in the rue de Bellechasse, on the left bank of the Seine , in Paris.
If there is a word that can define the style of the Tunisian stylist, who died on November 18, 2017, it is silhouette, that is, what we translate into forma fisica, while the English into shape. In any case, little changes: the body of the woman, with its dichotomies, divergences and curves, more or less pronounced, has always been the fixed point on which revolved his design obsession. Fixation that soon leads him to be considered one of the most influential designers of our time, while remaining distant from public ridicule.
The glasses, represented by three models, carry forward Alaïa’s idea of fashion and act as a tribute to what the designer has created during his career. Produced in collaboration with Kering Eyewear, the accessories reflect the colors of the Maison, such as black, powder pink and blue, the architectures – inspired by the female profile – and iconic details represented by transparency effects, by stud applications on the front and on the temples and the emblematic arabesque motif, so much emphasized by the Parisian fashion house.
To wear with a feminine suit to go to a business appointment, while sipping an aperitif at the beach, while reading a book in the open air or, even better, with a pair of vintage blue jeans, a t-shirt of white cotton and the latest slippers. Très chic.
