THE DESIGNER WILL GO TO LACOSTE
Rumors would see Mark Howard Thomas abandon Helmut Lang for Lacoste. For several years now, the chronicles have seen creative directors leap from one fashion house to another like crickets. This last case is not surprising either. If we add then Thomas back to work with Louise Trotter, with whom he lived the experience at Joseph. It also seems that he will continue to design the menswear collection, also for the crocodile brand.
His last show was Lang’s spring-summer 2020, presented during New York fashion week. As MFFashion explains: inside the company, Mark Howard Thomas worked alongside Thomas Cawson, his right hand and creative of the brand’s jeans division. The September show included both designers’ garments. Mark Thomas, who holds a master’s degree from Central Saint Martins, began his career in Milan with Neil Barrett, and then joined Givenchy, under the guidance of Riccardo Tisci (now at Burberry), in Paris. He then moved to London as Joseph’s menswear director.
Will Thomas Cawson pick up the legacy of Mark Thomas? Stay tuned.
