A few years later, Hood By Air is ready to return to the scene with its new unmissable collection “The Prologue”.
Having become one of the most popular and in vogue brands at New York Fashion Week with its legendary shows, in 2017 it abruptly disappeared from the spotlight. A long period of “freezing” defines the designer Shayne Oliver in an interview with Vogue, which allowed him to put his ideas in order and aim for a new perspective. It could be said that the effects are more than evident. In fact, the brand’s team recently turned to Instagram to share a clip with HBA fans announcing the arrival of the new ready-to-wear collection.

Entitled “The Prologue”, the collection appears divided into three different chapters, each of which with a specific meaning: “Mother”, “Veteran” and “Merch”. Starting from the first, the designer explains how maternal love and female beauty have been a source of inspiration for him.
“It’s kind of based on my grandmother and what she brought to the table, which has always been beauty, but then it’s also how I learned to physically sew and make clothes. She’s such a motherly figure (so many people in fashion) and has always been so forthright about blacks in fashion, black identity and black creativity. It just made more sense to start the conversation from there. “

Campaign testimonial? The legendary Naomi Campbell. In the photos taken by Luis Alberto Rodriguez, “the Black Venus” exhibits with her fierce and captivating gaze, structured leather trousers and jackets with zippers and avant-garde cuts. In the coming months the other two chapters of the project will be presented and it will be communicated where it will be possible to buy the garments. Therefore, we just have to attend this prologue.

But the news does not end here. In fact, it must be said that together with the return of Hood By Air, the designer announced: HBA, a direct consumer platform where the products will land, Museum that will host the archives of the first incarnation of the brand and Anonymous Club, an independent creative studio for art, sound, performance and film, to support the cultivation of emerging talents. In short, what to say, if the breaks for reflection give these results, we should all follow Hood By Air’s example.
