After the Prada affair, recently accused of a keyring that had a strange resemblance to the blackface, Gucci is now in an equivalent position.
The object of the crime
In this case the object of the crime is a turtleneck sweater to suffer a negative reaction on social media, because of its resemblance to the racist and denigrating blackface images.
The sweater itself, described as a “revisited balaclava”, is made of tight black mesh, which extends over the lower part of the face where it has a cut around the mouth and a red “lip” detail.
And actually, but above all objectively, the aforementioned sweater is just a simple mix between a balaclava and a turtleneck sweater, just made more feminine by the red outline of the lips. And to be honest if we really want to see a hidden meaning, I would see a lot more erotic, than a racist appeal. In any case there’s nothing so scandalous or offensive behind, so dear women too, DON’T YOU DARE seriously, do not even think about it.
Power to the people
As we well understood, nowadays, the ignorance of the internet people reigns supreme, so Gucci has found himself forced to withdraw the product from the sale followed by an official statement on his Twitter profile:
“Gucci deeply apologizes for the offense caused by the wool sweater, we consider diversity as a fundamental value to be fully supported and respected at the forefront of every decision we make.We are fully committed to increasing diversity throughout our organization and turn this incident into a powerful learning moment for the entire Gucci team. “

Here we go again.
When will you learn that accusing racism so randomly does not elevate you to better people, but simply puts you on the same level as the racist? Looking forward to.
