THE AMERICAN BRAND ANNOUNCES COLLABORATION WITH ARTISTS
Art for fashion. Gilbert & George for Supreme. The American brand chooses the duo of artists for the launch of a new collaboration. And what a couple! For the uninitiated, in fact, Gilbert Prousch and George Passmore are among the most influential names in the contemporary art system. Born in Italy the first and in the United Kingdom the second, their four-handed works are exhibited in museums such as LUMA (Arles), MOMA, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York), TATE (London).
Seventy-year-olds make available their artistic inspiration for a brand whose target age does not exceed forty years. It matters? Not much, given that talking about are the clothes made, such as hoodies, longsleeve, t-shirts and skateboards. Consequently, the union gives life to twenty-seven pieces, called 1984 Pictures. Because it is the result of a previous work by the dyad, Death After Life, inherent in photographs taken in the 1970s.

THE HUMAN CONDITION AS A POINT OF REFLECTION
The work is printed on the products and portrays current issues such as racial, religious, death and death. Above all, its meaning points to a reflection on the human condition within the urban context. Moreover, urban-style is the reason for the success of Supreme, while the idea of raising public awareness through irreverent and colorful works, with fauves-inspired features and an aesthetic that echoes that of the pop-art founded by Andy Warhol, is typical of the duo. Most importantly, many of these works also recall the murals, typical city art.
After the joint venture with the American giant Nike for the launch of the new sneakers, recently announced, the brand is ready to announce the release of the Gilbert & George for Supreme collection, scheduled for 21st March 2019 in the stores of the New York brand and on the company website, starting at 12:00.
