Many years ago, made in Italy was the element capable of distinguishing artisanal and luxury fashion from that which was not able to sustain the costs and technical complexities. Today, in the age of fast fashion companies, nothing is understood. There is a lot of confusion (and misinformation) about what can be considered really done in our country and what is not. Avem makes it clear. The brand founded in 2017 by the Thai designer Nok produces shoes entirely in Italy. Specifically in Forlì, in Emilia Romagna.
Nok lives in Los Angeles and draws inspiration from the city of angels. Although it is nature – the luxuriant one of her homeland, famous for its parks, like the Khao Yai – with its lightness, its colors, its changeable and volatile being, which is then the translation from the Latin of the name chosen to represent the brand.
Positive colors, able to brighten up the fit and the spirit – after all the first spring – summer collection 2019 is entitled Flowers of the soul – they are the chromatic trace of shoes having a complex structure, many of which – with the exception of the oxford and mule models – they all point to one of the most sensual areas of women: the ankle. Avem, focuses its creations on the concept of anklet, more than one, which can be combined with any model. «The Vanessa model is innovative and allows you to have three different shoes in one. In fact, it can be worn in many different ways: with leather laces passing through flowery details, without laces for a more elegant décolleté and finally with an anklet that recalls the shape of the petals.» Explains Nok.
Only an Italian know-how is able to respond positively to the designer’s creative demand. Although she still has a long way to go, it is a matter of pride – or so it should be – that a young businesswoman decides to bet her entire future not only on the shoe, but also on a country not really hers, which, however, is the only to be able to emphasize her sketches, her desire to express herself.
