Travel and fashion. It is not a new inspiration in the fashion world. Yet it becomes if you do so calibrated, by learning to dose your signature style with traits that best define those places so distant and different from our culture, however, you do not know how, they can penetrate in our skin. So Marta Cucciniello has taken the time to do a long creative pilgrimage from Casablanca (Morocco) to Miami (Florida). With her, Wait! discovers her brand and how was born her spring / summer 2016 collection.
Marta, why did you decide to found your eponymous brand?
I’ve always lived in a very creative, stimulating environment and with time I came to understand that this would be my job. I started with a passion for craftsmanship rather than for fashion, linked to a world, the world of jewelery, I always breathed through the work of my father: I like everything about the creation of a product, its design and the final implementation. After the studies I’ve worked before in Ratti’s group and then in Fendi’s, where I learned the method and mindset needed in this kind of context. In 2013 I decided to get involved and founded my company and my brand. I always wanted to make a women’s clothing line and now it becomes true.
How did you create Influences, the spring / summer 2016 collection?
Influences is a journey that is born from the meeting of two very different worlds: the Middle East and the West. Dresses embellished with patterns, geometric, elegant and refined inserts cuts that recall the finely carved details of the Moroccan Kasbah architecture alternate with chapters in which lightness become more pronounced, the more obvious contrasts and the most garish colors to mark the change of location of our trip. From Casablanca we arrived in Miami: collisions of shades between gold, coral and our blue Klein found space on large volumes and shapes that enhance the female figure. An extremely versatile collection, ideal for both the “beach life” that for most social occasions.
Which woman dresses Marta Cucciniello?
A practical woman who seeks quality, style and a piece that never dies. My woman is also witty and at the same time rigorous, she likes to wear something with a twist, and her femininity reveals a hint of masculine spirit. A metro woman, who lives in a very challenging environment and who wants to get involved.
What distinguishes Marta Cucciniello from other brands in your market segment?
If I had to sum it up in four words I would say to you: elegance, versatility, practicality and geometries, inspired architecture and contemporary artists. Contemporary art is in fact another important source of inspiration for my work and I often like to visit art exhibitions to discover new talent and find ideas.
What are your future plans?
Soon we will be in Paris, Las Vegas and New York to present the new fall-winter collection 2016/2017.
