– A bear lying on the floor, happy, looking at the sky: “I’m fine” -. So it ends the story of the spring – summer 2017 collection by Massimo Alba. And this brief statement, the comfortable feeling, not having to pull over to uncomfortable trends, it is the thread that accompanies the recent history of the creative and its eponymous brand. And it is also the added value, tangible, material of all his collection.
Massimo Alba has stamped his signature style since the 80s, when he became Malo’s creative director, the reality of made in Italy luxury knitwear, founded by the brothers Alfredo and Giacomo Canessa. Since that time the road is all downhill and Alba, after leaving the fashion house in 1999, prompted the reality of homegrown styles offices just as important as Agnona and international as Ballantyne. The story of Massimo Alba as a designer for other companies ends in 2006 when he opened his brand, starting from its showroom on the Navigli in Milan, in via Corsico 8, including street musicians, libraries, contemporary and antique art galleries and high quality bar à vin.
The clothes offered for this summer following the constant stylistic evolution of the brand, not a precise concept, a coercive scheme and therefore, by definition, selective. When you look and wears a garment designed by Alba must go further, you are welcome to do so. The coral-colored shirt dress for her and linen jackets for him were not designed for a niche or a specific time, they are made to be worn, to wrap the body making you feel wearer comfortable. – Feeling good in your jacket, in your sweater, not because they were created by a designer, but because they make you feel as if you had always had them in your closet, as if they were old friends who are nice to find that accompany you in your day . That is, for me, the beauty: and it is the opposite (…) of the rules: To me, being stylish is the opposite to be dressed as someone else -. Explain Alba, who in his studio, furnished with original and refined furniture having the same personality of their holder, inside the showroom, writes, paints, reads, does not just think about the next season’s trends.
Each piece signed by Massimo Alba is notable for its sartorial finishes, lines and soft materials together in search of natural pigments. A real made in Italy, for every day, for yourself.
