
We are in Dubai, in a long night in the east and here in a moment Dolce and Gabbana make us relive the dream of Sherazade.
Entitled “Day & Night”, the first show-event staged by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, on the night of 7 October, brought 120 looks to the catwalk to celebrate the official opening of the brand boutique opened in March 2018 in Dubai, but also the culture of the Middle East, with its charm and its contradictions.

The show took place at the Dubai Mall and presented a collection of unique items that will be sold only in Dubai such as dresses in silver tulle or organza with Swarovski applied. Light clouds of purple chiffon or polychrome patterns like the mosaics of the Mosques lean gently on the bodies of young women.
The see/do not see effect is solved with light transparencies attenuated by long petticoats but by the non-existent thickness and not to offer temptations to male looks too indiscreet here appear the black lace, iconic symbol of Dolce and Gabbana, encrusted or applied on various fabrics.
The fantasy touches the peak when the traditional abaya is on stage, that sort of very light hood that hides everything except feet and hands. Damask, impalpable or in brocade, all with floral applications.
Crowns and hats transform the Dolce and Gabbana women into strong and passionate queens, with refined elegance.
Not just princesses …

“All women, but also men have a dream, become princesses and princes, queens and kings.” declares Stefano Gabbana.
Oh yes because even men, they want to feel real principles. And so between tuxedos and suits here appear on the catwalk hoodies and male bomber with the words Royal, embroidered in crystals also on the basketball caps for the evening. And in this mix of regal and sporty luxury there is no shortage of sneakers and jogging trousers combined with a napoleon-like suit.
An enchanted place

28 meters high for 955 square meters of sales area, the Dolce and Gabbana boutique overlooks the main entrance of the Fashion Avenue Expansion. Three floors in which there is a triumph of marble, in four varieties and shades (black, red sequoia, yellow gold and gray) and walls covered in red damask. A long staircase in black marble with golden veins connects the three floors where the collections are proposed, for men, children, accessories and the world of beauty and eyewear.

Even Sherazade would have lost her mind in such a place.
