Fashion to build a dream in which people want to live. A hyper-feminine, futuristic and subversive dream of the Chinese designer from Antwerp Di Du.
Its design has the gaze of pioneering women, the attitude of underground culture and the vision of the younger generations who aspire to a change in mentality.
Fashion, for me, is telling a story.
Using fashion as a language to speak my language and that of people who are not afraid to face issues such as gender freedom, political rights or the problems of our society.

Di Du looks at fashion as a work of art that works the human body. In fact, the young designer, recently graduated from the Antwerp fashion department, stages a real conflict between hard and soft materials capable of giving a new meaning to the dress.
Just like in a true work of art, Di Du’s hybrid design made of rigid corsets and soft drapes calls into question pre-established rules to upset them and give life to something totally innovative and revolutionary.

His collections have the courage to tell real taboos. The era of good guys seems to be over, following the rules imposed by others without asking any questions.
I never understood why anyone who tries to think for himself, questioning the status quo of things, is not considered a good boy. “You really are a good boy!” If you think about it, this sentence is said only to those who have never had the courage to question the standard conventions and paradigms of our society.

If you talk about sex you are not a good boy, as if you show too much your legs you are certainly not a good girl….
Di Du, who grew up in Shanghai in the early 1990s, denounces, with his creations, a society dominated by men. With her clothes, at this point we feel like a good girl, trying to achieve equality and freedom of genders. These topics took the face of several stars of the moment, from the singer Rosalía for his music video Aute Cuture, to the Rico Nasty outfit for the pre-Met Gala 2019.
Not to mention the model and artist Jazzelle Zanaughtti in the crystal dragon heels of the DIDU SS20 collection, and one of the most daring female faces of the street style of the caliber of Sita Bellan wearing the red biker jacket signed by Di Du.

In Di Du’s clothes it is as if technology was able to acquire a sort of sensuality that only a bold and strong woman can transmit. On his web site we can found many 3D digital creations. Fashion and technology also on the designer’s website confirm their now consolidated and lasting relationship.
Our life in one way or another is increasingly linked to digital technologies and Di Du is once again able to read our times and return them visually with great courage and tenacity.
You just have to follow the artist of the future on her didu_official instagram profile and start thinking for yourself!
