The new Converse x Margiela. In itself is a collaboration so cool. It ‘s beautiful just the box with two names so important, and in some ways, far from each other but combined togheter for an exclusive collaboration.
What do I think? I’ll tell you: on the one hand I was a little disappointed. I was expecting something more amazing. On the other hand, however, the choice is extremely consistent. The choice of painted white a pair of classic Chuck Taylor All Star and a pair of Jack Purcell one side is perfectly consistent with the work and with the stylistic history of Margiela and its footwear, in which the effects of ‘immersion in the paint’ are a great classic. But you think about it andyou tell to yourself ‘I could do it too by myself’. If you think about the price of shoes (200 euro), would you feel a bit ‘stupid to spend some money on 2 coats of white paint that you also could give yourself. Then you think of how many artists have made a splash on canvas or a simple sharp cut and entered into human history. The gesture, the sign, the idea. The time splitting the paint, from which emerges under the original color, creating a shoe in its own way unique and different from each other. Of course, this is not an artist and a single work, but fashion is an art form tha plays with our subconscious and our taste. And while you are shaking your head in front of a pair of shoes in painted in white at 200 €, comes to life the charm and magic of fashion: will be the name, the story that will emanate these two immense imaginary, but those shoes, if you look hard enough they have a magnetic appeal, which in the folds and cracks of the paint in some way can hear. And you can not pretend not to hear.
