Capri becomes digital set of Chanel’s Cruise 21
The fashion show Chanel Cruise 2020-2021 . A global pandemic, instead of the suggestive Capri , the parade took place inside the atelier in rue Cambon , in Paris .
The faraglioni island, once a landing place for film and show divas such as Sophia Loren , Elsa Martinelli , Grace Kelly and Silvana Mangano , comes to life in Paris thanks to a set that tries to imitate its charm.
“ Balade en Méditerranée ” is inspired by the beachwear style of the 60’s divas with a allure free and relaxed on vacation.
The island in the Gulf of Naples would have been the ideal location as well as the coasts of the French French Riviera , instead the French maison had to content itself with recreating the sunset with Vesuvius in the background.
This sweet Walk in the Mediterranean has been immortalized by photographers Karim Sadli, Julien Martinez Leclerc and Bea De Giacomo, under the direction of the artistic director Virginie Viard .
Inspired by the fairytale atmosphere of Capri and the summer freshness , this collection takes us back to the times of Coco Chanel with the iconic tailored suit in minimal style.
The sea, the flowers and the luxuriant vegetation are the protagonists together with the textures light and subtle of the transparent lamé , of the crêpe and of the tweed.
The collection
The inspiration is palpable from the first outfit. In fact, beachwear garments are at the center of the collection.
A collection inspired by the past , therefore, and the literal meaning that the “ Cruise ” had, when they were designed for long periods of vacation.
The scent of Caprese summer is revealed in light floating dresses with pleated ruffles, bright and tight swimwear pieces combined with elegant and candid suits and denim trousers.
The floating silhouettes are accompanied by cult accessories such as sunglasses with visor , and belts worn directly on the skin as jewels.
Among the items, simple and transformable pieces, conceived for a luxury but travel wardrobe : extremely versatile and easy to wear.
Long skirts convertible into dresses, long black chiffon jackets over a triangle bikini for the day, combined with an embroidered bandeau top for the evening.
Chanel’s haute couture is always recognizable, giving us very warm colors emotions, even only through photographs and short films and not a real fashion show .
The brand has been pioneer of the Cruise fashion shows, accused in recent months as guilty for having significantly accelerated the fashion system, and in all probability it will return to the live as soon as possible (for now the Haute Couture autumn winter 2020/2021 will also be online, in July).
