What is the difference between these two photos?
One is in line with today’s aesthetic standards, the other is not. The one on the left is a slim, athletic and sensual girl, the one on the right shows a woman who is older in age, who with an ironic attitude is not afraid to show off her curvy body. This is how these two images are different, otherwise if we consider the pose, the clothing and the percentage of uncovered skin can be considered identical.
So why should Instagram only censor one of the two photos? Which of the two are you wondering? Well it would seem that one of the most used apps in the world has the same stereotypical aesthetic preferences that only slim and young beauty deserves to be posted on social media.

And all the other beauties where do we put them? Maybe it would be better to keep them locked in the house?
Celeste Barber’s body, an australian comedian, in the photo where she mimics a Victoria’s Secrets model, she was censored by Instagram. In accordance with Instagram’s standards, the image on the right was said to “violate guidelines for nudity and sexual activity.” Censorship is when a word or opinion deemed inappropriate, sensitive and unfavorable is suppressed. It seems inappropriate to me to discriminate against a woman’s body just because if we are in a pizzeria I don’t order a salad.

But the question now is this: Is Instagram really censoring out-of-the-box female bodies? The platform actually apologized following the censorship of Celeste Barber’s photo and the case was filed as a system error, but all this is making one doubt the inclusiveness that, especially in this period, characterizes a lot of content posted on Instagram.

Celeste Barber is an Australian comedian who has launched a real format on her Instagram profile with more than 7 million followers. Through her self-deprecating shots she interprets in a real way the set, statuesque and unattainable bodies of the most famous stars.

Down all the filters also for many influencers who have decided to embrace an inclusive trend by showing how their body changes according to the different poses they take. It is useless to deny that we are all well aware of how to pose in front of the lens to appear slimmer and more slender. It is time to relax, breathe and stop holding your breath to deceive not only others, but first of all ourselves. All this makes no sense and moreover it forces us to constantly pretend something that we are not really.
To bring Celeste into the spotlight of the fashion system was Tom Ford, who first involved her for behind-the-scenes videos of his New York fashion show in 2019 and for a fun beauty sketch with Lips & Boys lipsticks. “Cindy Crawford couldn’t have come so I came,” Celeste replies when asked what a person is doing with her appearance as the face of a fashion brand.

There was no way to enter the fashion show garments, but in any case, he told her: “You are beautiful, you never need to lose weight.” “So now if someone he tells me I need to lose weight, I say: “Tom Ford told me I don’t have to, try to leave”.
Who better than a person who does not take himself seriously, smiles at life and does not believe he is better than anyone else can inspire us?
