Alisa Kuzembaeva, Russian, studied in the most prestigious fashion schools in the world including Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. She founded her eponymous brand with the aim of studying the woman not only from the physical point of view, adapting her ideas to the female body, but also by exploring the anthropological point of view: her culture, the intellectual aspect. Her collections are her world and her philosophy has been understood by stars like Lady Gaga who took the creative talent of young designer.
When have you decided to create your own brand?
I decided to launch my brand straight after graduation.
You have studied in very prestigious school. To what extent this affects the realization of a collection?
My training helps me to keep high standards in my work. It also shaped my working process and gave me more options in creative approaches.
How do you develop your business?
I try to involve more professionals in to my work in different aspects, in order to create perfect team. My role is to be a creative director and also coordinate people.
Have you some Masters that you bring inspiration?
I don’t have any particular Master. My approach is very architectural and organic in some way, as I try to use best inspiration from environment.
What are the criteria that you use for create a collection?
There should be intrigue in the design, that first thing that build the whole collection, also my woman is free and very active, it should be complementary for her body and her lifestyle.
Is it difficult to emerge as a brand?
It’s always hard to start in any field. The shortage in money, disable you to grow fast, but also it trains your creativity.
How is the fashion world right now?
Fashion word has many dimensions now, you have to be smart to occupy the right shelf.
Project future?
I’m thinking on my next presentation, maybe it’s better to make a movie instead of catwalk. I still thinking on the form.
