The Buena Vista Social Club intonates street life, night passions, wildlife. El Che. At Floridita, architect Ettore Sottsass drinks a cocktail in the company of one of the greatest writers of 900, Hernest Hemingway. Everything is flowing into a stream of images, tastes and complex, non-stereotyped lives: the mamas, smart, beautiful, passionate, and even sweaty and poetic guitar players, children dancing with adults a rhythm of fierce, hypnotic sounds and finally the landscape painted as a frame for a unique world, at least until a few years ago. And this is the picture that Kinloch plays on its accessories made for this summer and thought to be timeless.
To become a classic for an object, a book, a story, is difficult. Years, decades, have to pass before it becomes part of a nation worship. In the case of the Caribbean island, with its socio-political affairs and the iconic cultural properties, it itself has become one of the most desirable destinations of the last century, because it was in some sense prohibitive, because, compared to European-Anglo-Saxon vision, was another universe (and perhaps it still is), where people, despite the difficulties and the repression, always smiled. The Milanese brand, born in 2012 and on the market since 2013, re-introduces these aspects in a range of accessories that includes classic foulard, pochette – elegant for women if used as bandanas and equally chic for men if come up with a linen blazer – ironic socks and swimsuits for him – perfect for a bath at Cayo Largo where Cristoforo Colombo landed – and finally the bowels and ties for a formal evening in Havana, but without running the risk of boring and getting bored.
Produced entirely in Italy, in Como, the collection makes silk its main fabric element. Kinloch, popularly loved in Japan, is following an interesting path, surely alternative to the current fashion trend, particularly from the point of view of the print studio and the choice of making its sets in the most important silk industrial district of our country. And if there is another relevant element to it, that is, the full-handed baking, it is possible to congratulate Kinloch for a future worthy of note, and maybe one day it will be possible to define it a classic, just like the island that Taino Indians called Cubao, or where fertile soil is found. So, Buen viaje!
