Supreme has decided to honor Daniel Johnston with his Spring / Summer collection.
The Texan artist, songwriter and illustrator, who passed away in September 2019, was a very irreverent, loved and successful figure on the American scene.
He suffered from various mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolarism and for this reason he was called “the greatest outsider of the last school of American songwriters”.
It is not the first time that the two collaborate, the New York brand had already used some of his works both in 2012 and in 2015.
This partnership sees as protagonists the most iconic artworks created by the artist during his tormented life, we find Jeremiah The Innocent, the frog that appeared on the cover of his 1983 album Hi How Are You and The Silver Suffer, another character born by the schizophrenia of Johnston.
Other images have been taken from the Space Ducks comic – An Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness, thus paying homage to the artist even outside the world of music and covering various garments of the collection, through a series of embroidery and prints.
The capsule, consisting of: Work Jacket, hoodies, plaid shirts, Work Pants, rayon shirts, t-shirts and beanies will be available from May 14th, from 12.00 pm, exclusively online on the official Supreme website.
Stay with us for further updates on future collaborations.
