Research and experience as a means to achieve something concrete, tangible, and especially to express its personal concept of fashion. Thus it was born a few years ago the brand 10bags by Lapalombella brainchild of Martha Lapalombella. Today the brand is expanding its horizons always looking for creative input to translate in handmade in Italy and high quality handbags.
Martha, you founded your brand of bags a few years ago. What were the most significant developments?
The most effective changes are the result of the experience lived gradually during my career. Each contact, each event, each comparison, each time dedicated to it, it was able to establish the identity of the brand: handbags entirely handmade in Italy.
10bags by Lapalombella is synonymous with research, both in terms of style and materials. What limitations do you encounter most often?
So far I’m re-discounting enthusiasm by the company and suppliers. The limit may be in the final price: all require quality, research, attention to detail and then pretend to have an affordable price just because you’re new on the market, an emerging designer.
Some of your bags are unisex. What are the reasons that brought you to this choice?
The intention is to create a product that can be worn by both, or identifying a specific target regardless of gender; an accessory that is contemporary, chic and of research.
How do you place 10bags by Lapalombella on the market?
Is positioned as a brand of contemporary research, added to hubs that make testing their strength and who espouse this concept trying to push the product regardless of the business factor.
What is the situation for you emerging talents in Italy today?
Compared to many years ago, for the new generation there are many opportunities to emerge; all that this has led to strong competition. Among the sore points there is the existence of so-called social-products which on one hand give strength to those who make search their existence but which at the same time make their path longer and more difficult. Currently, you are giving importance to free communication content through the wrong use of social networks, this superficial approach results in a lack of creativity, a reduction in quality of the product and so are not all the values that have always characterized the fashion system .
Future projects?
Now I am completely dedicated to the next collection. The intention is to experiment, manipulate materials and forms to create a strong identity for the brand, redefining the concept of beauty and functionality.
