Saint Laurent Rive Droite is a lifestyle capsule inspired by the art of an American graffiti genius, Jean-Michel Basquiat.
His paintings were characterized by the use of works (very minimal, elementary and almost childish) at times scribbles, and words mixed with numbers and symbols. The life of Jean-Michel Basquiat can be considered a perfect parable that tells the New York of the Eighties. Its history intersects with that of a city in turmoil, which never slept, where money, drugs and entertainment flowed freely and no one had time to stop and think about where they were going. Basquiat’s success was lightning-fast, fleeting and explosive, like everything that happened in those crazy years, in which the prices of works of art seemed to grow indefinitely, “pumped” by critics and gallery owners who sold them to super-rich yuppies who considered art a profitable investment. All this meant that in a few years Basquiat obtained a celebrity and a wealth unthinkable for a boy like him, but in exchange Jean-Michel gave himself up, for a hunger for life that finally devoured him.

Anthony Vaccarello, created numerous collections honoring the likes of Doug Aitken for SS22 or producing a Rive Droite collection focusing on the Memphis design scene. Now, Saint Laurent Rive Droite has worked with Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Estate and Galerie Enrico Navarra for a indebted Basquiat range and a complementary indoor exhibition, its collections are not just clothing but a real tribute to great artists.
The exhibition will be staged in the “Saint Laurent Rive Droite” stores in Paris and Los Angeles.
Anthony Vaccarello, from 24 July to 7 September will curate an exhibition of original works in the “Saint Laurent Rive Droite boutiques of Rue Saint-Honoré”, Paris and Rodeo Drive, in Los Angeles, both exhibitions are in collaboration with the Jean-Michel Basquiat Foundation and the Galleria Enrico Navarra, and will host several unpublished works by the artist. Among these, we can find: 18 original lithographs and a silkscreen, plates that belonged to Andy Warhol, and a spoon and a denim jacket from one of the first auctions in history for the fight against AIDS.

In order not to miss anything Anthony Vaccarello dedicates to him a Saint Laurent Rive Droite capsule that includes different items of clothing and accessories, such as a hooded sweatshirt and three T-shirt models, but not only. There will also be three books, and accessories such as (the backpack, the tote bag and the iPhone cover). Also available is a set of skateboard decks with three different prints, and two skimboard decks decorated with works by Basquiat.
The lifestyle capsule is in collaboration with the Jean-Michel Basquiat Foundation and with Artestar of New York.
