After abandoning official Paris calendar for a season, Vetements returns to fashion world’s attention by being the first to show its SS 2022 ready-to-wear, managing to create confusion among the public starting from the announcement of its new collection arrival. For some time, there have been rumors of a possible rebranding of Vetements in Vtmnts, and the label invariably chooses to make people talk about itself with a post on instagram that deliberately sees the name of the brand incorrectly written: “Vtemetnes SS22 show tomorrow 19:30” That’s how dance begins.

Guram Gvasalia, Vetements founder together with his brother Demna Gvasalia who for some years has now said goodbye to the brand, reveals what’s behind conception of this SS22.
“What is reality today? Is that picture photoshopped or real? Are we imprisoned in our own homes? Are we losing human touch and human connection? Do we consume the internet or has the internet consumed us?”: These are just some of questions that Guram himself it’s placed trying to give an answer and pushing the public to reflect on historical period in which we are living, between social isolation and technological progress.
Photoshop and writings such as “the devil doesn’t wear Prada”, “hotter than your ex better than your next” and “single and ready to mingle” then at stake, parallel to the deconstructed tailoring giving life to 129 layered looks with an over silhouette.
Square shoulders, down jackets, parkas, t-shirts, skirts, dresses and blazers are mixed on all-over prints and sustainable fabrics developed from scratch thanks to the experimentation of wool and cashmere through immersion in liquid metals, hot stamping, spray painting and 3D printing.
