Do you ever feel that desire for lightness, the desire to free your head from every slightest worry? It would take an empty room and a “harp” music to let yourself go completely. Imagine for example: a soundtrack halfway between music house and disco, punctuated by the notes of Planningtorock, which resounds in the speakers setting in motion every single cell of the body; hands suddenly extend to the sky, bodies twist and feet stamp on the ground in a space dancefloor.
It is from this imagination that the entire fashion show organized for Fall Winter 2021 by Kenzo is built. A “french touch capoeira” that between colors and dance releases its visceral sense of freedom and sometimes madness, which almost by symbiosis seems to win over us spectators too.

“Even being confined to Paris, between home and work, we traveled through our minds, using creativity as a sort of antidote to the current situation. Creation was our new elixir”
With these words the creative director explains his fashion show. We are not, however, talking about the late Kenzo Takada, who passed away on 4 October due to Covid 19, but about his successor Felipe Oliveira Baptista. In an attempt not to make it become a tribute to the memory of the unforgettable designer, Felipe has thus moved towards a celebration of the past. By dusting off the archives, he was able to bring back the shows from 1978 to 1985, enriching them with movement, joy and color in the spirit of a new contemporaneity.

A tribe of nomadic spirits thus enters the scene, abandoning themselves to a liberating dance, making those dresses stand out even more that between: fluorescent color blocks, striped patterns and botanical prints seem to come to life on those twirling bodies. The result is an explosion of landscapes, hydrangeas, birds, chains, roses and tulips inside slim second-skin effect suits, wrapped in voluminous and enveloping shapes, almost armor ready to defend the body.
Snow boots, trekking shoes, models similar to futuristic robotic stompers, backpacks and accessories that, when attached at the waist, almost look like sleeping bags, complete a look ready to blend into a multicultural nature, free from all frontiers. In an attempt to rediscover that courage that makes us escape and at the same time makes us feel alive, let’s enjoy this dance to life, what we could also define the quintessence of Kenzo!
