Nuuly, the new monthly outfit rental service managed by Urban Outfitter is soon to be launched.
Starting from this summer, with a subscription formula costing $ 88 per month (€ 79), the Nuuly platform, managed by Urban Outfitters, will allow customers to choose six rental items up to a combined value of $ 800 ( € 718). Not only that, tenants also have the opportunity to purchase rented items, but at the moment it is not specified if these will be discounted or not.
According to an official press release, Nuuly at the time of launch, will start with a stock base of 1,000 items of clothing, adding 100 new ones every week until the end of the year.

The catalog will also include pieces from all the brands managed by Urban Outfitters such as Anthropologie and Free People, as well as some streetwear and denim brands with which Urban Outfitters has long collaborated including Reebok, Fila, Champion, Levi’s, Wrangler and Citizens of Humanity. There will also be a curated selection of “rare vintage” and an assortment of designer labels, including Universal Standard and Anna Sui.
The press release describes Nuuly as a solution to the paradox of the “constant search for novelty that points to a more sustainable lifestyle”, emphasizing how the potential of this rental model can improve the environmental impact of fashion.
This new Urban Outfitters adventure, if successful, will represent an even more in-depth mainstreaming of the idea that we sincerely do not want and above all we don’t actually need to possess anything at all.
