Elegance. From the latin verb eligere, or to choose. Nowadays it is very complex to decide independently what and how to buy, especially in the clothing sector. In fact it has always been, that’s why they were born fashion magazines and advertisements. But it is equally true that generations of masters designers and small companies in the sector have taken steps to simplify this process in some way, by creating iconic pieces. One of these is certainly the shirt. And Balossa, brand brainchild of Indra Kaffemanaite, who is also its designer, is among its contemporary interpreters.
If until 1700 the shirt was worn exclusively by men and dressed by going through the head, the one with the front lacing was introduced by Brows Davis & Co. in 1871. Today, this garment is made of different materials, from flannel to poplin, from silk to denim, is structured in a classic or creative version, just think of the creations of Rick Owens, Celine, Maison Margiela and many others. What has remained unchanged over time is that it is a real mat, especially in the white tinted version. In this specific detail, Balossa makes the added value and consistent since its started in 2014.
At White, during the Milano woman fashion week in february, the brand presented a collection inspired by the dream of an enchanted kingdom moved by history and art. In these elements, the Lithuanian designers formed at the Milan’s Istituto Carlo Secoli, added her perspective on the contemporary. This dichotomy space – time has given rise to a collection that plays on the idea of the impossible, the chimera. However, by paying attention, the play of lines brings out the original reflections that make unusual every white shirt proposed. The result is a current reference time Elizabethan characterized by “candid architectures from large collars and cuffs, investigated in a cotton poplin in contrast to the glamor of the streched silk, with always a theatrical structure”, concludes Indra Kaffemanaite. And now we just have to wear a black skirt in silk and choose the perfect white shirt. Nothing else.
