We talked just yesterday in this article<\/a> about the similarity between the latest sneakers made by the brand MSCHF<\/a> and the Vans<\/a> Old Skool<\/em><\/strong>, timeless classic of the footwear world.<\/p>\n

Vans sued the Brooklyn brand for designing the Wavy Baby<\/em> in collaboration with Tyga<\/strong>, which should have been released on the 18th of April.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that something like this happens. A year ago<\/strong>, in fact, MSCHF had been sued by Nike for using a pair of Air Max 97 for it collaboration with the rapper Lil Nas X<\/strong>. The dispute ended in the best way and the two companies found a deal.<\/p>\n

Will it be the same with Vans?<\/strong>\u00a0 In this case, the Californian brand stressed not only the similarity between the Old Skool<\/em> and the Wavy Baby<\/em><\/strong> in logos, colors and packaging but also declared that the product was designed for\u00a0\u00a0“confuse consumers, illegally subtract sales to Vans and intentionally damage its intellectual property”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the other hand, MSCHF<\/strong> stated<\/strong> in a press release that Vans was<\/strong> not only aware of the creation of Wavy Baby<\/em><\/strong> but that even before deposing the lawsuit, it proposed the division of profits from sales and asked to receive four pairs of the shoes, probably to study their design.<\/p>\n

MSCHF has also argued that<\/strong> although Vans<\/strong> hides behind its incredible history, presenting itself as a “creative brand for young people”, in 50 years of production <\/strong>it has never received so much attention as the one aroused by the\u00a0Wavy Baby <\/em>even before their release.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In short, the tensions between the two companies do not seem easy to solve<\/strong> if we also consider that MSCHF appears unwilling to cancel the release.<\/p>\n

To discover how it will end, all we have to do is wait and see.<\/strong><\/p>\n
