Its algorithm is a mystery that many have been trying to decipher for years, in attempt to make social media their business.

After realizing that teams of social diggers were mobilizing in search of followers, even fake in many cases, Instagram has taken increasingly harsh measures.

The basic policy seems to be: we can all (and must) focus on the contents that the social network promotes, but self promotion is starting to be heavily discouraged.

In fact, news has been circulating for a few days that some users have been subjected to a new feature, namely the limitation of posting the contents of their feed in the stories.

The limitation of the so-called ‘double posts’ is explained by the social network as the desire to make users focus as much as possible on what they publish within each element, in order to maximize engagement. But the analysis of the new policy could also suggest that the goal is to monetize the system even more, pushing us to sponsor ourselves. Let’s not forget, in fact, that many neo-influencers, but not only them, used double posts to encourage followers to look at their own contents, which often get lost in the organic Instagram feed.

Matt Navarra, the social media expert, shared this post, showing us the screen that appears when trying to share the feed in Stories:

Another credited explanation is that Instagram would like to target content in their specialized function, so that each content is consistent with its original function: the stories in the stories section, the content in the feed section, and so on.

For now, however, the social media has reiterated to SMT that this is currently only a test conducted in a few selected regions and that, to date, there are no plans to implement this change more broadly.

____________________

You could be also interested in:

iOS 14.5 will allow users to unlock the iPhone screen by wearing the mask

What to see in February: all the movies not to be missed on Netflix and Prime Video

Instagram never ceases to surprise us.
