Just take it, break it, put it <b>at divine service<\/b> and then reassemble it based on this assumption. And if <b>love for God is joy and pain<\/b>, inside <b>God&#8217;s music there can be everything and the opposite of everything<\/b>: then <b>rap<\/b>, <b>jazz<\/b>, <b>gospel<\/b>, the thousand <b>blues<\/b> influences, <b>rock<\/b>, <b>folk<\/b>, are all right. <b>alternative music<\/b> and let&#8217;s not forget the <b>electronic<\/b> one.<\/p>\n<p>The new album <b>is called &#8216;Emmanuel&#8217;<\/b>: from the <b>Hebrew<\/b>, people of God, &#8216;Immanu&#8217;el&#8217;, <b>means &#8220;God is with us&#8221;<\/b>. Released on <b>December 25th<\/b>, because on no day is God with us like the day of <b>his coming to Earth<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/6we6S2gBCjDM7JqVLZymLw\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nEmmanuel is an <b>ep of five songs<\/b>, which more than rap songs are austere and <b>severe sacred hymns<\/b>, of those that can be found on <b>Sundays in some Benedictine churches<\/b> of the old order. Why, it is clear, especially in pieces like &#8216;<b>Puer<\/b>&#8216; and in &#8216;<b>O Magnum Mysterium<\/b>&#8216;, the<b> influence of the Latin ecclesiastical choirs<\/b> is there. We see it in the <b>titles<\/b>, all written in <b>Latin<\/b>, and in the choice of voices, which take the form of the <b>choir<\/b> as in a <b>celebration<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The choir we hear, however, is not just any choir. The <b>background<\/b> is the <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sunday_Service_Choir\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Sunday Service Choir<\/b><\/a>: the <b>gospel choir <\/b>directed by <b>Kanye West<\/b> himself and by <b>Jason White<\/b>, the teacher. The Sunday Service Choir has <b>accompanied Kanye since 2019<\/b>, the year in which they released their first album &#8220;<b>Jesus Is Born<\/b>&#8220;, and performs with him in <b>Sunday masses<\/b> and on some occasions at the <b>Opera<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-97355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/003-Kanye-West-Sunday-Service-1-March-2020-PFW-Vogue-Int-Credit-Julien-Boudet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" data-id=\"97355\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now that West has gone from being<strong> the black sheep of God<\/strong>, with the<strong> aggression of Famous nudes<\/strong>, to the<b> lamb loyal to divine service,<\/b> <b><i>in which direction will we see rap music going?<\/i><\/b> I ask because listening to Emmanuel I had the <b>impression that those were still the daughter bases of one of the greatest <\/b>(and brilliant, and crazy, and unscrupulous) <b>producers<\/b> of our time.
