At least since Alessandro Michele has been firmly holding ‘the deck of the ship’.

Collection after collection, he launches new challenges. And this year it seems truly memorable for us. Even because he intends to dock in a port of inclusivity and sustainability. Michele wants to transform the consumer from a victim of labels and stereotypes to an ethically responsible individual, free to express himself.

The main characters of this new significant bet are two “commons” items: collant and blue jeans to which Alessandro Michele ‘gives’ new life, catapulting us into the grunge London of the 80s and 90s.

But let’s find out them together:

In 1998 it was Helmut Lang who proposed the first “Painter Jean” stained “artfully” as a Pollock canvas, dedicated to the American workwear. In January of this year, Michele, on the catwalk of the A/ W 20-21 men’s show, presents the vintage memory of his and our childhood spent carefree playing among the green moans. A memory embodied in a low-waisted jeans model, with a classic cut and wide leg. The blue fabric is worked to obtain fake grass stains with a “délavé” treatment.

And there is more.

The model, which we find on the brand’s website at a cost of 680 EUR, is made of organic cotton. The item is part of the sustainable “Gucci Up” program, which definitely respects the new philosophy of the carbon neutral brand.

The second item, surely punk rock, which is a pair of ruined black collant, has been presented in the last February and recently introduced on the market at a cost of 140 EUR.

However, although they are like all those common collant, which for many years’ girls have thrown away because they were irreparable (and we will most likely never throw anymore …), they are currently sold-out.

Well, what about? Broken collant perfectly embody the message of breaking the rules and downsizing to consumerism. They literally go beyond the “veil of perfection” that the world of luxury fashion has worn for decades.

It is clearly perceptible that Michele is suggesting us, once again, as a luxury item despite it remains closely linked to a “name”, to high quality and to a trend, it should never lack a conceptual meaning.

A dress must tell and defend a story, a memory and a philosophy. And without any doubt, he can be an immortal allied…

Laddered collant and pants with (fake) patches of grass.
